In a recent development, another group of 20 Sri Lankans trapped in Myanmar’s cyber crime zone has been successfully rescued. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that these individuals are now under the care of the Immigration Department of Thailand and are reported to be in good health.
The rescue was facilitated through the efforts of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Thailand, which is also arranging their return to Sri Lanka. This operation follows a previous rescue in March, where eight Sri Lankans were freed from similar conditions.
Despite these efforts, about 28 Sri Lankans remain detained in Myanmar’s cyber crime zone. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working to secure their release and ensure their safe return.
