The Election Commission has officially assigned the gas cylinder as the voting symbol for Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is running as an independent candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
This symbol allocation was confirmed by the Election Commission, setting the stage for Wickremesinghe’s campaign. In addition to this development, several prominent political figures have publicly endorsed Wickremesinghe’s candidacy.
Among his endorsers are M. Velukumar, a Member of Parliament from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party; Gayashan Navananda, a Monaragala District MP from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP); Sriyani Wijewickrama, a former Digamadulla District MP and ex-Minister; Gunasekaram Shankar, a former Member of Parliament; and Dr. Sirimasiri Hapuarachchi, leader of the United People’s Party.
These endorsements represent a broad base of support across different political factions, providing a significant boost to Wickremesinghe’s campaign.
