Presidential candidate and opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa has made a significant promise to the farmers of Sri Lanka, stating that under his government, all outstanding farmers’ loans will be completely written off. He also committed to providing a high guaranteed price for paddy, ensuring that farmers receive fair compensation for their produce.
Mr. Premadasa shared these commitments while addressing a public rally in Higurakgoda town. In addition to loan forgiveness and paddy price guarantees, he vowed to remove the tax on black beans, making it more affordable for farmers. He also assured that his administration would make agro-chemicals available at reduced prices, easing the financial burden on farmers and supporting agricultural productivity.
These promises highlight Mr. Premadasa’s focus on addressing the challenges faced by the farming community and his commitment to improving their economic well-being.
