The Health Professionals Scholars Association has raised serious concerns about a recent cabinet paper presented by the Minister of Health, proposing the importation of 47 drugs under what is being described as an Indian monopoly.
Ravi Kumudesh, the president of the association, has called on the minister to clarify how this move would benefit Sri Lanka’s health services and its citizens. Kumudesh also expressed worries that the quality and safety of medicines could be compromised if unregistered drugs from India are imported, potentially leading to a degradation of healthcare standards in the country.
