Pavel Durov, the CEO of the globally popular social media platform Telegram, has been arrested by French police. According to foreign media reports, Durov was detained when his private jet landed at an airport north of Paris.
The 39-year-old billionaire, originally from Russia but now holding citizenship in both France and the United Arab Emirates, was reportedly arrested under a warrant issued by France for several offenses related to the Telegram application.
Telegram, widely used in Russia, Ukraine, and former Soviet Union states, ranks among the world’s leading social media platforms, following giants like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, and WeChat.
