Colombo — At a women’s rally in Colombo on August 25, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate for the National People’s Party (NPP), pledged to establish a government and legal system that ensures equality before the law for all citizens.
Speaking at the event themed “Women’s Power for Tomorrow,” Dissanayake committed to addressing economic hardships by providing monthly financial assistance of 10,000 to 15,000 rupees to economically struggling families. He emphasized his dedication to improving the economy and ensuring that those facing financial difficulties receive support.
Dissanayake also highlighted his plan to “clean from the beginning,” stressing that his administration would ensure fair treatment under the law and tackle corruption. His statement, “Don’t rub it on your body… remember. You should be afraid of the law,” underlined his intention to hold individuals accountable and promote justice.
The rally, which was organized by the NPP, reflected Dissanayake’s campaign focus on social equity and economic relief, aiming to build trust and support among the electorate.
