Colombo – The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has imposed a fine of 1,500 rupees each on two individuals who were apprehended for illegally pasting posters of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s Party.
The suspects were arrested by the Kurunduwatta Police and brought before Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage on August 26, 2024. The arrests were made while the suspects were in the process of affixing Dissanayake’s campaign posters in a jurisdiction under police control.
Upon appearing in court, the two individuals admitted their guilt. Following their plea, the magistrate issued the fines as a penalty for the unauthorized distribution and display of campaign materials.
