Dodamgaslanda, Sri Lanka — Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa has announced plans to bolster economic prosperity under his proposed administration. Speaking at a meeting in Dodamgaslanda on August 26, Rajapaksa outlined his vision for strengthening the Samurdhi Movement, a government program aimed at alleviating poverty.
Rajapaksa emphasized the importance of transforming the Samurdhi Movement, traditionally focused on social welfare, into a catalyst for entrepreneurship. He promised that under his leadership, the Samurdhi Movement will be restructured to support entrepreneurial ventures, enabling those in Samurdhi families to access both local and international job markets.
His plan includes attracting investors to rural areas and creating job opportunities through the establishment of industries in every constituency. Rajapaksa envisions a significant role for local industries, stating that his government will create environments conducive to industry investments.
This initiative aims to address rural economic challenges and foster sustainable development across Sri Lanka.
