Namal Rajapaksa, the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has committed to advancing the nation’s economy while ensuring that it does not become a burden to the common people. His remarks came during a constituency meeting in Mawathagama held on August 27.
Rajapaksa emphasized the SLPP’s dedication to responsible economic management. “We have never made a political decision that harms the country. My task is to advance the development begun by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The current government’s unlimited and unfair tax policies are challenging small and medium businesses. The previous government under Gotabaya Rajapaksa faced criticism for reducing taxes, but we believe in implementing a tax policy that is fair and affordable for the people,” he said.
Rajapaksa further outlined the party’s plan to enhance the village economy and support small businesses. “Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is committed to building the economy of this country without placing undue strain on its people,” he added.
