Hakmana, August 29, 2024 — Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s presidential candidate, Namal Rajapaksa, emphasized the need for new technology to enhance the efficiency of public services during a rally held in the Hakmana area.
Rajapaksa asserted that his party has a well-defined plan to implement this transformation, aiming to make Sri Lanka the most developed country in Asia. He stated, “We will accept the responsibility of transforming Sri Lanka into the most developed country in Asia and bringing that development back to the village, picking up where Mahinda Rajapaksa left off in 2015. We are fulfilling that responsibility.”
He underscored the importance of integrating technology into public services, suggesting that the technological revolution, which began during Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s tenure, must be resumed and accelerated. “We need to bring technology, we need to tax technology, and we need to introduce the technological revolution we envision to the public service,” Rajapaksa explained. “Through government service, people should receive these services with technology, eliminating the need to wait in queues. If we could remove fuel queues by reducing consumption and increasing prices, why couldn’t we eliminate the passport queues? This happened because public service was not equipped with technology.”
Rajapaksa concluded by stating that under his leadership, the government would be responsible for integrating technology into public services, ensuring that Sri Lankans benefit from a more efficient and modernized system.
