(COLOMBO) – The officer in charge of the Colombo Court production room was today ordered to be held in police detention until further notice, police said.
They said the Chief Custodian in charge of the evidence room of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had been arrested in connection with 12 kilograms of heroin that had disappeared without a trace..
The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had previously ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the disappearance of the 12 kilograms of heroin, with an estimated value of Rs.240 million, from the court’s evidence storage facility.
Accordingly, the Chief Magistrate has granted permission to detain and interrogate the suspect based on a request made by the CID from the court.
