Sachitra Harshani Jayakantha has made Sri Lanka proud by winning a silver medal at the World Masters Athletics Championship, held recently in Sweden. Competing in the women’s 40-44 age group long jump event, Sachitra showcased her exceptional talent by achieving a jump of 5.24 meters.
Sachitra, who serves in the Sri Lanka Police, demonstrated her dedication and skill on the international stage, contributing to her country’s reputation in athletics. The championship, which took place from August 13 to 25, saw participation from athletes representing 119 countries.
Sri Lanka was represented by 14 athletes in the tournament, and Sachitra’s remarkable performance has been a highlight for the team, earning her recognition and bringing fame to the nation. Her achievement underscores the strength and potential of Sri Lankan athletes in global competitions.
