Parliament member Rajitha Senaratne has alleged that certain powerful countries, including some in the region, are aiming to install a weak government in Sri Lanka. According to Senaratne, these foreign powers seek to influence Sri Lanka’s policies and decisions by ensuring that the country remains dependent on them.
In a press conference held today, Dr. Senaratne stated, “Some powerful countries want a weak government dependent on them in Sri Lanka. When a weak government is in power, these countries can extract what they need from Sri Lanka.”
Senaratne’s comments highlight concerns about international influence over Sri Lanka’s political stability and governance. He implied that a weakened government could be more susceptible to external pressures and demands, potentially compromising Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and strategic interests.
