(COLOMBO) – A Malaysian woman was arrested along with three kilograms of cocaine at a safe house in the outskirts of Sri Lanka’s commercial capital of Colombo, police said on Saturday.
The detection of the cocaine and the arrest was made at a private residence in Bellanwila, they said.
The 24-year-old woman who had entered the country on a tourist visa was arrested by officials from the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) on Friday night, according to police.
She was caught red-handed while attempting to sell the drugs concealed inside candy packets that had been packed into tiny capsules, police said.
The gross street value of the drug haul is estimated to be over Rs. 110 million, according to the PNB.
The woman is to be held under a detention order for further questioning, police said.
