The Colombo District Election Dispute Resolution Center has ordered the arrest of three-wheeler owners who displayed stickers supporting President Ranil Wickramasinghe. The stickers, which featured the slogan ‘Puluwan Sri Lanka,’ were used in campaign activities at the Colombo Galle Face.
The complaint, lodged regarding these campaign programs, highlights a breach of election regulations. According to the election laws, campaign advertisements such as flags and stickers can only be affixed to vehicles used by the candidate. Sticking such materials on other vehicles is prohibited.
President Wickramasinghe, who participated in a sticker pasting event at the Galle Face, is also under scrutiny for the activity. The election authorities are now addressing the issue by taking legal action against the vehicle owners involved.
