Colombo – Sarvajana candidate and entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera, who has declared the highest income among presidential candidates, stated that the country cannot be built without a focus on branding and entrepreneurship. He made these remarks during a social media program where he addressed various public concerns.
Businesswoman Hashini Himasha questioned Jayaweera about his lower spending on campaign activities despite his high income. In response, Jayaweera explained, “Three rallies in one day bring large crowds, but it’s the same people attending every rally. The public no longer values such displays. Everyone knows the crowd has been brought in.”
He further emphasized that traditional campaigning is losing its impact and that society has moved beyond these old methods.
Jayaweera also highlighted the potential of Sri Lanka’s natural resources, stating that the country often exports raw products like tea without adding value. He urged that branding should be a national priority, asserting that Sri Lanka needs to export value-added products, whether it’s tea, rubber, or spices.
“Branding is essential for our country’s recovery,” Jayaweera stated, adding that children should learn about entrepreneurship and branding early on. He believes that positive thinking and motivation, especially among the youth, are key to achieving economic growth and national progress.
Jayaweera concluded by expressing confidence in the country’s potential, stressing that with the right mindset and strategy, Sri Lanka can overcome its challenges and thrive.
