Colombo – National People’s Force (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has pledged to increase the salaries of public servants starting from June 2025, should he win the presidential election on September 21. Dissanayake announced that under his government, salary increments would occur every six months, tied to the rising cost of living.
Criticizing President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s promise of a salary hike in January 2025, Dissanayake dismissed it as unrealistic, asserting that Wickremesinghe is only making such claims because he is aware he won’t be re-elected.
Dissanayake made these remarks during a televised discussion, highlighting his commitment to improving public sector wages and addressing economic challenges.
