Kenya – Rebecca Cheptigei, a celebrated Ugandan marathon runner, was tragically killed by her boyfriend in a shocking act of violence. Reports indicate that Cheptigei, who had competed in the recent Paris Olympics, was attacked last Sunday when she returned from church with her two daughters.
The incident occurred near the Kenya Athletics Village, where Cheptigei was training. According to foreign media, her boyfriend doused her with gasoline and set her on fire following a dispute over a piece of land.
