Member of Parliament Roshan Ranasinghe has made a bold promise for the upcoming presidential election, vowing to reduce vehicle prices by 80% if elected. In a statement, Ranasinghe outlined that his proposed policy, detailed in his manifesto, aims to drastically lower the cost of cars in the Sri Lankan market.
Ranasinghe claimed that under his plan, a car currently valued at approximately 20 million rupees would be available for around 2.2 million rupees. This significant reduction, he argues, would make vehicles more affordable for the general public and stimulate the automotive market.
The proposal has sparked considerable debate, with supporters viewing it as a revolutionary step towards making transportation more accessible, while critics question the feasibility and implications of such a drastic price reduction.
