Anura Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Party and its presidential candidate, has fallen ill unexpectedly. Due to this sudden illness, Tilvin Silva, the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, stepped in to attend a public meeting in Morawaka, Matara, which Dissanayake was scheduled to address.
Silva explained that Dissanayake has contracted viral fever, attributed to his intense efforts in recent days addressing presidential election rallies. He added that Dissanayake plans to return to the campaign trail after taking some time to rest and recover.
