Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) leader Mawei Senadhiraja expressed his confidence that President Ranil Wickremesinghe would win the upcoming presidential election and finally resolve the long-standing issues of the Tamil people. Speaking to the media after a meeting with Wickremesinghe on the 7th, Senadhiraja stated that the president has a significant responsibility to address the concerns of the Northern Tamil population, particularly regarding war-torn areas and the need for development.
He emphasized the importance of rebuilding the northern regions, enhancing livelihoods for the affected Tamil communities, and ensuring their issues are prioritized in national discussions. The ITAK leader revealed that these topics were part of his discussions with the President during their meeting in Kankasanthurai, Jaffna.
Senadhiraja’s comments have sparked speculation about a potential rift within the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), as the party had previously pledged its support for another candidate, Sajith Premadasa, in the upcoming election.
