Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP M.A. Sumanthiran has clarified that the statement made by Anura Dissanayake, the National People’s Party presidential candidate, in Jaffna was not racist. He emphasized his willingness to work together with Dissanayake to bring about the change the country needs.
“If Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake wins, we will be part of that change. I know him well, and I am certain that his statement wasn’t intended to be racist,” Sumanthiran said, acknowledging the complexities of election rhetoric.
He also highlighted the TNA’s commitment to creating a country free of fraud and corruption, reiterating their readiness to support a government that works for all its people. Sumanthiran expressed that he and his party are prepared to cooperate fully with Dissanayake and his movement to achieve these goals.
