At a public meeting in Nuwara Eliya, held yesterday (07), Dilith Jayaweera, the presidential candidate of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance, revealed his plan to raise the minimum household income to Rs. 100,000. Participating via video conference due to his involvement in a debate in Colombo, Jayaweera criticized traditional political platforms for making empty promises that have failed to improve people’s lives.
“We have presented a program that aims to uplift living standards. It’s not hard to make your daily salary Rs. 2,000, but it must be done scientifically. Placing the burden solely on employers won’t work, and we have a plan to achieve this goal,” Jayaweera stated, emphasizing his alliance’s commitment to realistic and actionable solutions.
