September 9, 2024 — K.D. Lal Kanta, the convener of the National Trade Union Center, has announced that all public sector strikes have been suspended. This development follows a request made a month and a half ago, resulting in a complete cessation of strike actions within government services.
Lal Kanta highlighted that the trade unions, which had previously organized strikes, are now fully engaged in supporting the election campaign. He emphasized that the shift in focus from industrial action to political involvement reflects the unions’ commitment to the current electoral process.
This announcement was made during the conference of the Inter-Company Employees Union, organized by the National People’s Power. The unions’ decision to halt strikes and contribute to the election campaign underscores their active participation in shaping the upcoming political landscape.
