Kandy, September 9, 2024 – Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate for the Samagi Jana Balavega, has sharply criticized the current political landscape and challenged President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s capabilities. Speaking at a rally in Kandy, Premadasa condemned the ongoing political maneuverings and alleged conspiracies aimed at misleading the electorate.
Premadasa accused the presidential contenders of engaging in deceitful tactics and stressed that the people of Sri Lanka will not be misled by such schemes. He asserted that his primary goal is to secure victory in the first round of the election and emphasized that there is no alternative to this objective.
In a direct challenge to President Wickremesinghe, Premadasa questioned whether the current administration is capable of addressing critical issues like the passport crisis, which he suggests is being overshadowed by political deals. “I am asking the president if you can’t make a program to give passports instead of the fake deal with Anura,” Premadasa said.
He promised that, upon winning the election, he would reveal any significant thefts or irregularities related to the passport issue, highlighting his commitment to transparency and accountability.
