September 10, 2024 – Dilith Jayaweera, an entrepreneur and presidential candidate for the Sarvajana Balaya alliance, rallied patriotic citizens to unite for the love of their country during a public meeting in Aheliyagoda on September 9.
In his address, Jayaweera emphasized that patriotic forces and those who truly care for Sri Lanka are poised to support his presidential bid. He criticized the political climate that, according to him, has stifled and demoralized those with genuine nationalistic fervor.
“The patriotic nationalism political movement and those who love our country have been beaten and silenced,” Jayaweera asserted. “They have been mentally defeated by derogatory comments like ‘May God rest in peace.’ If there was any political morality left in Sri Lanka, this would mark its end. They believe they can erase history by silencing the patriots daily. This is the beginning of their ideological and political downfall.”
Jayaweera’s remarks reflect his commitment to rallying those who feel sidelined by current political practices and reinforcing a vision for a more nationalistic and morally principled political environment.
