Former Minister of State for Children and Human Affairs Mrs. Geetha Samanmali Kumarasinghe said that she has no need to commit suicide by climbing on a sinking boat.
Commenting on her support for this year’s presidential candidate Mr. Sajith Premadasa, she said this at a press conference of Samagi Jana Balavega held in Colombo today (11).
“I have not taken anything from the government. Therefore, I am neither indebted nor afraid. I make independent decisions. I am Geeta Kumarasinghe. I am one of the people who have won the hearts of Swahasak artists in this country. I also voted for our president to make him the president. In my vote in the parliament, he is still here today. I was fired from the Ministry of Children and Women’s Affairs. It’s not good for you to win the presidential election. I said yes That’s why I don’t want to go to a sinking boat. Yes, I have that confidence.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s Galle District Member of Parliament Mrs. Geetha Kumarasinghe decided to support Sajith Premadasa, the candidate of Samagi Jana Balavega in the 2024 presidential election, and expressed her support for the Samagi Jana Balavega General Assembly held in Kandy on the 9th.
At that time, she was working as the Minister of State for Women and Children Affairs.
But yesterday (10) President Ranil Wickramasinghe took steps to remove 05 state ministers from their positions with immediate effect.
There, the Presidential Media Division mentioned that Mrs. Geeta Kumarasinghe has also been removed from the position of Minister of State.
