Dodampahala Sri Rahula Thero has publicly endorsed President Ranil Wickremesinghe, urging temples across the country to rally behind him, citing his leadership during Sri Lanka’s most challenging times. Speaking at a gathering, the Thero praised Wickremesinghe for steering the country back from the brink of economic collapse and for capturing the attention of the international community.
“We have decided to support the leader who saved the country in its darkest hour,” Dodampahala Thero declared. He emphasized that Wickremesinghe not only stabilized the economy but also restored the confidence of global investors and tourists, which has been crucial in rebuilding the nation.
The Thero also highlighted a key achievement of Wickremesinghe’s administration—the refusal to print excessive currency, which had plagued previous governments and worsened inflation. “For two years, this man did not mint a single rupee. Under his leadership, the country has been able to recover without resorting to destructive economic measures like printing money,” he stated.
Dodampahala Thero further acknowledged Wickremesinghe’s ability to guide Sri Lanka toward peace and economic recovery, which he said was recognized by international stakeholders. “The President’s actions have amazed the world, bringing stability and hope to Sri Lanka. That is why we are here supporting him, Reverend,” he concluded.
