Colombo, Sri Lanka – A new survey conducted by a reputable polling institute in Sri Lanka places President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the top of the list in the latest rankings ahead of the upcoming presidential election.
The survey, which polled over 13,000 participants, shows Wickremesinghe leading with 43.4% of the vote. However, the gap between the top three contenders remains razor-thin. National People’s Force candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake is in second place with over 29% of the vote, while Samagi Jana Balawegaya leader Sajith Premadasa comes in third, securing over 26%.
This particular survey institute has a track record of accuracy, as they were among the few to predict Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s victory in the last presidential election. While Wickremesinghe holds a significant lead, the margins between the top three candidates suggest that the race is still highly competitive.
With the election fast approaching, these results hint at a close contest, where every percentage point could make a crucial difference.
