- Ranil sings his famous election song again
Colombo, Sri Lanka – Independent presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that he did not seize control of the country but was compelled to take over in the absence of any other leadership. Wickremesinghe made this remark during his speech at the Kesbewa People’s Rally, part of the ongoing Sri Lanka Victory Rally series.
“When the country was in crisis, I stepped in and managed to steer it toward recovery. I did so based on a strong belief. I didn’t take the country from anyone—there simply was no one else willing to take the reins,” Wickremesinghe said.
He noted that the country’s situation is gradually improving but emphasized the need for continued efforts. “The recovery process has started, but it will take another three to four years to fully stabilize. I’m seeking the mandate to continue that work.”
Wickremesinghe also outlined his vision for the country’s future, which includes plans to make living easier by reducing taxes and creating more jobs.
