Vavuniya, Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa declared that his primary challenge as a leader is to protect the country’s farmers and fishermen. Speaking at a public meeting in Vavuniya, Rajapaksa emphasized his commitment to supporting these key sectors, which are vital to Sri Lanka’s economy and food security.
“The only challenge I face is ensuring the protection and prosperity of our farmers and fishermen,” Rajapaksa stated. He also pledged that his government would prioritize resolving long-standing issues, including the human-elephant conflict, which has severely impacted rural communities.
Rajapaksa’s remarks signal his intent to focus on the welfare of rural populations, particularly those whose livelihoods depend on agriculture and fishing.
