Jaffna, Sri Lanka – Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa has announced that if elected under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), there will be no consolidation of land or police powers for the North and East regions. Rajapaksa made these comments in response to questions from journalists in Jaffna.
Rajapaksa emphasized that his government would not grant these powers, aiming to maintain the current administrative structure. He further assured that, in a Buddhist country like Sri Lanka, all religions, languages, and communities will be protected and respected.
In his address, Rajapaksa also stated that neither the country nor his party would offer short-term privileges or positions, and he expressed confidence in facing any challenges that come his way.
