The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has issued an arrest warrant for Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) Member of Parliament Hesha Withanage. The warrant was issued due to Withanage’s failure to appear in court for a pending case.
The case relates to an incident on November 1, 2019, near the Araliyagaha Mandir, where Withanage is accused of assaulting and injuring three individuals, including retired Major and lawyer Ajith Prasanna and Sergeant Major G.W. Sarath. The court ordered the arrest after Withanage repeatedly failed to attend the hearings.
