Ampara, Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa announced his plans to introduce legislation to abolish the practice of party-switching among politicians. Speaking at a constituency meeting in Ampara, Rajapaksa emphasized the importance of political stability and continuity in governance.
Addressing the issue of shifting political loyalties, Rajapaksa stated, “Today, many people are talking about this shift. Leaders’ positions are hard to pinpoint as they switch sides frequently. I will form a government that will put an end to this. We will create laws to stop this practice.”
In his speech, Rajapaksa also spoke about continuing the development projects initiated during his father, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tenure. He confidently promised not only to revive the halted projects but also to amplify them threefold. “The development that stopped then will not only continue threefold but also make Sri Lanka the most developed country in Asia,” he declared.
Rajapaksa’s bold vision includes pushing Sri Lanka to the forefront of economic growth and modernization, positioning it as a leader in the region. His promises are set against a backdrop of proposed legal reforms aimed at ensuring political accountability and stability.
