National People’s Power (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued a stern warning to those spreading false information out of fear of his party’s potential victory. Speaking at a public rally in Mirigama, Dissanayake said that individuals who propagate lies and conspiracy theories will be held accountable in court under an NPP-led government.
“Their politics have reached a dead-end, where the only response they have left is to spin conspiracy stories. This isn’t an equivalent debate—when Ranil Wickramasinghe goes to Ampara, he goes with Ataullah, and when Sajith Premadasa goes there, he’s with Hakeem. But we come with a message of national unity, something we’ve stood for throughout history,” he declared.
Dissanayake criticized Sajith Premadasa for resorting to “old racist narratives” and pointed out the absurdity of claims made by Tissa Attanayake, who alleged that the NPP would stop the Perahera. “We will bring those making such baseless statements to the Perahera court,” Dissanayake vowed, underscoring his commitment to justice and truth.
