Namal Rajapaksa, the presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has pledged to take responsibility for building a better future for the nation’s children. Speaking at a rally in Wellawa yesterday (14), he outlined his vision for the country’s development, focusing on long-term prosperity rather than short-term gains.
“Every candidate today talks about the expressway, port city, Hambantota port, and airport. But these were the same projects they criticized in 2015. Those who once called them ‘white elephants’ have now accepted the development done by Mahinda Rajapaksa and are trying to move forward,” Namal remarked.
He emphasized the need to maximize the use of Sri Lanka’s cultivable land, saying, “We must cultivate every inch of land that can be used in this country. We will take every decision that strengthens the farmer’s economy.”
Rejecting the idea of selling off national resources for short-term benefits, Namal assured, “I accept the challenge of making this motherland the most developed country in Asia, and I have a clear plan to secure your child’s tomorrow.”
