Dilith Jayaweera, an entrepreneur and universal presidential candidate, emphasized the critical role of women in creating a prosperous and happy society. Speaking at a program in Kalalgoda, Jayaweera shared his vision of empowering women who are currently not involved in Sri Lanka’s national production process.
“The main reason I am entering politics is because of the women of Sri Lanka,” Jayaweera stated. “For years, I have been addressing the women of this country. We need to unleash the entrepreneurial potential of Sri Lankan women. Our mothers are already more successful entrepreneurs than many around the world.”
Highlighting the current economic challenges, he noted, “At a time when household incomes have halved and the cost of living has quadrupled, 53% of women remain uninvolved in the economic process. Yet, Sri Lankan women have the unique ability to create happiness at home, which is the essence of entrepreneurship.”
Jayaweera concluded by urging women to think about the future and make the right decisions: “When Sri Lankan women focus on their children’s future and take action, a star will shine, lighting the path to a brighter tomorrow.”
