Sri Lanka’s economy has recorded a notable growth of 4.7 percent in the second quarter of 2024, according to the Department of Census and Statistics. This increase comes after the release of the National Accounts Estimates for the quarter.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at constant prices (2015) saw a rise from Rs. 2,644,240 million in Q2 2023 to Rs. 2,768,293 million in the corresponding period of 2024.
The department highlighted that the economy’s growth was driven by key sectors, with agriculture growing by 1.7 percent, industrial activities by 10.9 percent, and services by 2.5 percent. This reflects the country’s continued recovery and economic resilience across various sectors.
