Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate and MP Namal Rajapaksa has criticized previous administrations for their failure to prove allegations of corruption against the Rajapaksa family. Speaking at a rally in Naula, Matale, Rajapaksa highlighted that the Good Governance government, which came to power with promises to catch thieves, targeted his family without success.
He noted that numerous cases were brought against him and other members of his family, but in the end, they were acquitted of all charges. “They said we were thieves, but despite forming committees and investigations, they couldn’t find anything,” he said, emphasizing that the tax money collected from the people was misused by political opponents for their personal agendas.
Rajapaksa also pointed out that many politicians have sought power under the guise of bringing justice and catching wrongdoers but ultimately failed in their mission.
