Mr. Dilith Jayaweera, the entrepreneur and universal presidential candidate, has declared that the mainstream candidates in this year’s presidential election do not truly represent the change sought by the Sri Lankan populace.
Speaking on the “Derana 360” live conversation on September 15, Jayaweera criticized the current political contenders, asserting that they are not focused on delivering real transformation. “We are in an election environment created for the change that the Sri Lankan society has psychologically demanded. However, all the presidential candidates this year fail to embody that change. They are primarily seeking power, which often leads to destructive outcomes. The only difference is the percentage of power they hold,” Jayaweera stated.
He emphasized that the candidates do not address how the lives of Sri Lankans are changing or improving. “People want to see tangible improvements in their lives, such as enhanced standards of living and increased income, especially within Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Those who have lost their compassion and are only interested in achieving personal power do not offer any real solutions,” Jayaweera added.
Jayaweera, who has a background in entrepreneurship and is known for his achievements in the business world, proposed that his campaign offers a different approach. “We are driven by a belief in making a genuine impact for the people. We have laid out a comprehensive program to address these concerns. There is still time to engage with this plan, question it, and understand why it matters. The people of this country are the real stars, and it is essential for them to lead the change they wish to see.”
Jayaweera’s comments reflect his commitment to offering an alternative vision for Sri Lanka, contrasting with the other candidates he views as lacking in genuine transformative potential.
