Dambulla, Sri Lanka – Addressing a rally in Dambulla on the 16th, Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and opposition leader, announced plans to establish a Presidential Development Task Force for each administrative district in the country. This initiative aims to bring governance closer to the people and foster regional development.
Premadasa emphasized the significance of local engagement in the nation’s progress, stating, “A presidential task force will be established for every administrative district in this country. A separate unit for each district will enable people to directly connect with the president through regional secretariats.”
He highlighted Matale district as one of the focus areas, assuring that a presidential task force will be created specifically for the region. These task forces, according to Premadasa, will act as direct links between the people and the central government, providing a platform to address local concerns efficiently.
Premadasa urged voters to support his party’s vision of town and village development and to refrain from wasting their votes on political factions like the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the United National Party (UNP), which he claimed have contributed little to the country’s progress.
“I request everyone to join our journey to develop the country regardless of party affiliation. The decision is in your hands,” he appealed to the gathering.
Premadasa stressed the need to end what he described as the “politics of fake agreements and deals” propagated by his rivals, Ranil Wickremesinghe and Anura Kumara Dissanayake. He expressed confidence that his leadership would usher in an era that empowers the common people and the marginalized segments of society.
“We believe that the era of the common man will emerge, and this time, the people will make their decision clear,” he concluded.
The rally in Dambulla marks another significant stop in Premadasa’s presidential campaign, where he continues to position himself as the champion of the ordinary Sri Lankan, advocating for unity and development across the nation.
