Independent presidential candidate Ranil Wickremasinghe emphasized the need to maintain the country’s progress and avoid setbacks. Speaking at a rally in Ampara, Wickremasinghe addressed criticisms about his administration and highlighted the improvements made under his leadership.
Wickremasinghe defended his record by noting that despite challenges, significant progress has been achieved, including a stronger rupee and decreasing prices of goods. He asserted that the current efforts are still insufficient, and more work is required to continue this positive trajectory.
Criticizing Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Wickremasinghe pointed out that Dissanayake has yet to engage with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue with the IMF to ensure continued economic stability and urged voters not to revert to previous conditions. Wickremasinghe’s message was clear: the country must keep moving forward and not fall back into past difficulties.
