Watawala, September 18, 2024 – As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Deputy Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), Mr. Palani Digambaram, has expressed confidence that auspicious times will come for the plantation workers of Sri Lanka once Sajith Premadasa is elected as the ninth executive president. Speaking at a campaign event held at the Watawala Templesto Estate, Digambaram emphasized that Premadasa’s leadership will bring positive change to the plantation community.
At the gathering organized to boost support for the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) presidential candidate, Digambaram highlighted Premadasa’s commitment to addressing the needs of plantation workers. He noted that during the tenure of the Good Governance government, significant progress was made in improving infrastructure for the plantation community and promised that such efforts would continue under Premadasa’s presidency.
Digambaram, who has long been an advocate for the rights of plantation workers, reiterated his understanding of their struggles and emphasized that Premadasa’s administration would prioritize restarting stalled development projects. He praised Premadasa’s vision for inclusivity and prosperity, which aligns with the long-term goals of the Tamil Progressive Alliance.
In addition to Digambaram, Deputy Leader of the TPA, Mr. P.M. Udayakumar, also attended the meeting and urged the plantation community to rally behind Premadasa to secure a better future.
With the election scheduled for September 21, Premadasa’s campaign has gained momentum, particularly among minority groups, who see him as a candidate capable of addressing their pressing concerns.
