Galle, September 18, 2024 – Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Party, detailed his plans for economic and social reforms at a public meeting in Ambalangoda this evening. Premadasa outlined a series of initiatives aimed at revitalizing various sectors and improving living conditions across Sri Lanka.
Premadasa emphasized that a comprehensive program to benefit all citizens will commence following his anticipated victory. He highlighted plans to implement a fuel subsidy program targeting three-wheelers, farmers, school transport services, and fishermen. “We will start a program to heal the country’s people and rejuvenate key sectors,” Premadasa said.
In addition to the fuel subsidies, Premadasa pledged to revitalize the puppet industry and boost the tourism sector. He also announced a two-year program to combat poverty, which includes providing a monthly allowance of Rs 20,000 to those in need.
A central part of his vision involves the implementation of a knowledge-centered development program throughout the country. Premadasa aims to strengthen the manufacturing industry and establish factories nationwide to generate employment and drive economic growth.
He also committed to ensuring protection and support for all citizens, regardless of caste or religion. “Our government will safeguard all people and foster inclusive development,” Premadasa asserted.
His proposals reflect a broad agenda focused on economic revitalization, social welfare, and inclusive development, aiming to address the country’s pressing issues and improve overall quality of life.
