The National Security Council met today (19) under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe to discuss the security measures required for the upcoming presidential election. The meeting, held at the President’s office, focused on ensuring that the election is conducted in a free, fair, and independent manner.
Key topics included providing support to the Election Commission to maintain law and order on election day, ensuring the safety of candidates, and securing polling centers and stations.
President Wickramasinghe also instructed the heads of security forces to take necessary steps to maintain law and order during the post-election period without disrupting the daily lives of the public.
