In preparation for the 2024 presidential election, which will elect the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka, nearly 80,000 security personnel have been mobilized. According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Talduwa, this force includes members from the police, the Police Special Task Force, and all three branches of the armed forces.
DIG Talduwa emphasized that law enforcement will be strictly applied against any violations of election laws. Additionally, he noted that in the event of a natural disaster, both the Navy and the Air Force are on standby to respond swiftly to any emergencies. The extensive security measures aim to ensure a safe and orderly election process for all voters.
