Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake announced that the results of the presidential election will be available at the regional level before midnight. In a special statement to the media, he indicated that vote counting at various counting centers across the island is set to commence between 8 and 9 PM.
Ratnayake noted that counting at each polling station will begin once the ballot boxes arrive at their designated locations. He also highlighted that this year’s presidential election has seen a significant number of postal voters, totaling 712,318.
Additionally, he mentioned that there are 429 counting centers throughout the island dedicated to counting postal votes, which will start at 4 PM. The election authorities are working to ensure a smooth and efficient counting process as they aim to deliver timely results to the public.
