Colombo, September 22 – The nationwide curfew, originally set to end at 6:00 a.m. today, has been extended until 12:00 noon, according to a statement from authorities.
The extension was implemented to ensure public safety following the conclusion of the 2024 Presidential election. Authorities have advised citizens to remain indoors and comply with the curfew regulations during this extended period.
Essential services and individuals with proper permits, such as those engaged in election duties or traveling to and from the airport, will be allowed to travel during the curfew hours. Police officers have been instructed to strictly enforce the curfew, urging the public to cooperate for a smooth transition period post-election.
