Colombo, September 22 – Police Media Spokesman DIG Attorney Nihal Talduwa announced that strict security measures will be enforced during the post-election period, including a complete prohibition on demonstrations by vehicles or on foot for the next week.
In a special press conference, DIG Talduwa stated that no gatherings or group activities will be permitted, and authorities have been communicating these guidelines to the public over the past few days. The public is also barred from gathering in groups to observe election results in public spaces, with the police ready to disperse any such assemblies.
Additionally, roadblocks will be set up and anti-riot officers deployed to ensure security remains tight until election results are released. The spokesman emphasized that the public must act responsibly, comply with all regulations, and avoid any activities that could disrupt the peace.
