Colombo, September 22 – The island-wide curfew that was imposed from 10:00 p.m. on September 21 has been officially lifted after 12:00 noon today. Initially set to be lifted at 6:00 a.m., the curfew was extended to ensure public safety and maintain order during the counting and announcement of results from the 2024 presidential election.
Authorities had heightened security throughout the country, with restrictions in place to prevent large gatherings or potential disturbances. The situation remained peaceful, and the curfew has now been lifted.
Citizens are still advised to act responsibly and avoid mass gatherings as a precautionary measure, with security forces remaining vigilant.
